Meet the Artist
“Life Is Simpler in Black and White”
Working in black and white has multiple benefits for me as an artist and a person. Personally black and white brings back simpler times. I started to splash in some color to give my paintings a contrasting look and some popl
As an artist by using just black and white paints I have simplified my pallet and my choices. I have to think creatively to get depth and dimension in my art with only shades of black and white. Throw in a spot of color and the work really pops.
When I am working on one of my projects I get into the ultimate flow state. I become so engrossed in what I am doing that hours will fly by without me even noticing. The world around drops into the background, and the painting or drawing takes up my thoughts completely.
I see my artwork as part of my legacy. When I am dead and gone my art will live on to be viewed by others, whether that be on a stranger’s wall, or just by my family. For me, art is a simple form of magic. You are creating something that never existed, prior to me putting brush to canvas or pencil to paper. As an artist, I get the joy of creating the illusion of depth and dimension on a one dimensional surface, as if by magic.
I hope my art brought a smile, a frown, a chuckle, an awe, to you. I hope it evoked some sort of emotion, good or bad. Ultimately that is the purpose of art. insight with disciplined execution.
